ABOUT US

The Savannah Hoops Shootout was started as a result of Mr. Monty Jones desire to expand his Hostilo Hoops Community Classic event by incorporating high school baskeball into the classics. Through this inaugural event, it will increase the awareness and exposure for the high school basketball programs in the City of Savannah. As a focused overview, we intend to host a preseason basketball shootout event to showcase top-tier local and State of Georgia High School talent conducted at the Enmarket Arena during the Thanksgiving Holidays.

GOALS

To build a collaborative effort based on the 5 pillars of the C-Port: Community, Cops, Clergy, Coaches, and C-Port.
To attract tourism to Savannah by hosting a quality Hoops Shootout that will attract top-tier programs from the State of Georgia to play at the Enmarket Arena.
To advance and highlight the basketball culture in the City of Savannah towards becoming a proven grounds nationally for top teams from around the United States.
To have the GHSA Final Four hosted by the City of Savannah at the beautiful Enmarket Arena in March 2024.
To provide opportunities for local basketball players to showcase their talent, skills, and sportsmanship.

Utaff Gordon Brief Bio

Utaff Gordon is a retired high school science instructor and basketball coach. He has coached girls' and boys' basketball for over 30 years at the following schools: Orangeburg-Wilkinson High School, A.E. Beach High School, Windsor Forest High School, Hardeeville Middle School, Savannah High School, and Sol C. Johnson High School. As a science instructor, his disciplines included physical science, biology, chemistry, physics, environmental science, and oceanography just to name a few.
